Robert L. McGill age 82 of Little Rock, AR, formerly of Okolona, AR, died Saturday, June 9, 2012. He was born May 18, 1930 in Okolona to Arch and Florie Peters McGill. He was a graduate of Okolona High School and was enlisted in the Air Force and Army from 1948 till 1953. He served one tour of duty in Japan during that time. Other than his time in the military, he was a lifelong resident of Clark County and the Okolona area. He worked for Reynolds Metals for 32 years as a millwright and plant maintenance foreman until his retirement in 1985. He and his wife Frances also operated a cattle farm near Okolona. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Clark McGill.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Frances Clark McGill, two sons, Paul McGill of Greensboro, GA and Robert McGill of Mayflower, AR, one daughter, Karen Kell of Nashville, AR, one brother, John Arch McGill of Spring, TX, one sister, Jean Marshall of Orange, TX and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, June 11th in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia with Rev. Greg Burks Rev. Wade Shownes officiating. Burial will be in the Dobyville Cemetery near Okolona. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
