Robert Matheny

Robert Herman Matheny, 76, of Benton, Arkansas passed away January 7, 2022.  He was born July 15, 1945 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Herman and Lucy Berneace (Hodges) Matheny.

Robert loved the Lord and was a member of Northside Church of Christ.  He was very talented in wood-working and built desks, shadow boxes and picture frames.  In his younger years, Robert was active in farming and building houses.  After the birth of his son, Robert went back to college and graduated from Lyon College in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda “Sue” Matheny of Benton, Arkansas; son, Stacy Robert Matheny of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Wendy Sue Christy and husband Kenneth D. of Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren:  Aislinn Christy, Katherine Christy, and Luke Christy; sister, Rose Orrick and husband Mike of Batesville, Arkansas; brother, Jerry Matheny and wife Beverly of Strawberry, Arkansas; and many other family members and friends who love Robert and will miss him always.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.  Graveside service held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 12 at Ward Cemetery in Strawberry, Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to Northside Church of Christ Missions Fund, 917 N East St, Benton, AR 72015.
