Robert Bates Lusk, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 12, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on January 29, 1956, Robert spent his life serving and loving his family and community.
For 30 years, Robert dedicated himself to a career in law enforcement with the City of Little Rock, serving in various roles including patrolman, bailiff, and jailer. His commitment to justice and public service earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he protected.
But to his family, Robert was more than just a dedicated public servant - he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was affectionately known as "Grumps" to his grandchildren, a nickname that was coined with the birth of his first grandchild, Hannah, 22 years ago. This nickname was a testament to his playful and loving nature, which brought joy to all those around him.
Robert was also a passionate sports fan, cheering on his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks and New York Yankees with unwavering enthusiasm. A graduate of Parkview High School in Little Rock, he went on to become an alumnus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
After retiring from law enforcement, Robert devoted his life to his grandchildren, spoiling them with love, attention, and adventure. His family was the center of his universe, and he took great pride in watching them grow and thrive.
Robert is survived by his beautiful wife, Debra Lynn Lusk of Mountain View, Arkansas; his son, Thurman Robert (Bo) Hagar, and wife Amanda Lynn Hagar of Cabot, Arkansas; his granddaughter Hannah Maria Wiley and great-grandson Cole Austin Wiley of Ward, Arkansas; his grandson Corbin Miles Hagar and wife Maddi Watts Hagar of Cabot, Arkansas; his granddaughters Madalynn Grace Teague and Mary Addyson Teague and grandson Gabriel Malachi Anders of Shirley, Arkansas. He is also survived by his fur children Lexi, Shiloh, Gypsy, and Rommel, and many family and friends who will deeply miss him.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn Ely Bates Lusk and George Elmo Lusk, Jr; his sister Janet Lusk; his daughter Courtney Larissa Hagar; his grandson-in-law Charles Corey Wiley; and his beloved fur children Bubba, Monty, Angel, Abby, Buddy Lee, and Kyzer.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on through the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, "Grumps."
