Robert F. (Bob) Lambert, Jr. passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR. Known to his friends as Bob, and his family as Gramps, Robert was born in 1920 in Pleasantville, NJ.

After high school, Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corp (later renamed the United States Air Force), where he specialized in communications, installing and managing air traffic and ground control systems at air bases in conflict theaters all over the world. Bob served his country with pride and honor for 30 years, until his retirement in 1967 as a Chief Master Sergeant.

After his retirement, Bob stayed active in his community and in his church, and was a member of countless retired military associations and civic clubs. He previously served as a deacon at Park Hill Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, AR. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church, Hot Springs, AR and of First Baptist Church, Warren, AR. He was a licensed amateur radio operator and volunteered extensively with HAM operators across the state.

Bob is preceded in death by Ruby Lambert, his wife of 40 years until her passing, and their son, Bobby Lambert, of Arkadelphia, AR.

Years later (1991), Bob married Betty Nicholson Lambert of Warren, AR, and made their home in Arkadelphia, moving a few times until making Russellville, AR their last community of residence. Betty preceded Bob in death in 2012.

Bob is survived by step-sons Steve Nicholson (and wife Kathy), Little Rock, AR, and Dan Nicholson (and wife Susie), Russellville, AR. He is also survived by six grand children - Kate Nicholson, Little Rock, AR, Will Nicholson, Chicago, IL, Abbie Nicholson, Russellville, AR, Sarah Nicholson and Alex Gossett, Little Rock, AR and Whit Nicholson, Russellville, AR. Bob is also survived by two nephews, Glen Teal (and wife Judy), McDonough, GA and Mike Raybun (and wife Debbie), Fayetteville, AR. He is also survived by a niece, Elaine White (and husband Michael), Mahomet, IL.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 22 at Rose Hill cemetery, Arkadelphia, AR... under the direction of Ruggles/Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Robert (Bobby) Lambert Memorial Scholarship Fund at Ouachita Baptist University... honoring Bob's son, who was a collegiate baseball player at OBU.
