Robert “Bobby” Gordon Kiehl, age 72, passed away peacefully at the University of Arkansas Medical Center on Friday, January 17, 2025, following a car accident. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Kiehl and Kathryn Grayson Scott and sisters, Diana Osburn, Kathy Brooks and JoAnn Carter. He is survived by sister, Sharon Kiehl, and brother Mel Scott. He is also survived by nieces, Tammy Brooks, Tracy Rallens, Teresa Grayson, Katy O'Keefe, Jennifer Carter and nephews, Jeb Brooks, Richard Osburn, Chris Justice, Steven Carter, Micah Godfrey, Alex O'Keefe and Mike Hunter as well as his great nephew, Eric Taylor. He is also survived by special friend, Jane Tiefel.
Robert graduated from high school in Monticello, Arkansas where he excelled in sports playing junior and high school football and baseball. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was a graduate of the United States Army Intelligence School in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. From there, he was an Intelligence Analyst with the Special Forces in Ft. Gulick, Panama Canal Zone. He was responsible for 13 countries. Following his service, he enrolled at the University of Arkansas earning two bachelor’s degrees. He was a die-hard Razorback fan and a coach from the couch for every game. He followed college football, basketball and baseball and always cheered on the Razorbacks – winning or losing.
After graduation from college, Robert started his career as a Chief Management Engineer with Cassedy & Associates throughout the United States. He took great pride in the responsibility for creation, installation and training in management systems. He worked tirelessly to achieve solid material savings for Rich Products, Sun Maid, Estee Lauder, Price Chopper and many others. He was proud of his ability to enhance productivity and quality while reducing waste. He worked for Enterprise in the car rental business before retiring and playing his favorite role, Uncle Bobby, to his family.
Robert was witty and enjoyed all the nuances of life. Robert loved to travel, enjoyed camping. nature and star gazing. He was always listening to music or drive time sports, watching movies and especially Science Fiction. His favorite holidays were Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas. Fireworks, a scary mask and all the decorations made everyone love the holidays as much as he did. He had a keen knack for the English language and was quick to point out a mispronunciation or offer a definition. He was always the life of the party, had a story to tell and loved his family and friends. His laughter was contagious. An avid reader, he analyzed books and sports statistics. He read his first “big” book, The Wizard of Oz, as a young boy which became a regular read book and movie watching on a yearly basis. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Little Rock Friends of the Animals (1 Championship Dr. North Little Rock, AR 72116).
