Robert Eubanks

Robert [Bob] Eubanks, aged 90, was born March 24, 1929 at Paragould, Arkansas to Charlie Buck and Annie Mae Sellers Eubanks and died March 4, 2020. Following ten years at Dyess, Arkansas, his family moved to Riverside, CA, where he worked in a local dairy and graduated from high school in 1947.  Answering a call to ministry, he entered Ouachita Baptist College in 1950 and graduated in 1955 with a major in English and minor in French.

In 1956 Bob, along with wife, Sarah, and son, Stefan, moved to New Orleans where Bob attended seminary, graduating in 1960. He served as pastor of Williams Boulevard Baptist Church, and they welcomed son, Byron.  From 1961 to 1964 he was pastor of Southside Baptist Church in South Lead Hill, Arkansas where he also welcomed son, Tim. The family moved to Ste. Genevieve, MO, where Bob was pastor of First Baptist Church. In 1969 they returned to Southside Baptist Church in South Lead Hill. In 1978 Bob began thirteen years at Overland Baptist Church in St. Louis as minister to median & senior adults. After “retiring” in Diamond City, AR in 1991 he helped to establish First Baptist Church of Diamond City. Bob’s ministry spanned some 65 years across three states and one Caribbean island.

In 2006 he and Sarah moved to Caddo Valley where they enjoyed gardening, fishing, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob enjoyed his men’s Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia and providing pulpit supply in area churches as long as his health allowed. He also enjoyed playing music at the Senior Center and with the Cedar Grove bunch, strumming guitar, bowing a fiddle, and blowing a harmonica to his and, sometimes, others’ delight. Bob also loved to fish, was a gifted knife maker, and loved to tinker with all things mechanical.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. He is the last of the Charlie Buck and Annie Mae Eubanks progeny. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Watson Eubanks; three sons: Stefan [Melissa] Eubanks, Batesville; Byron [Amy] Eubanks, Caddo Valley; and Tim [Cyndy] Eubanks, Gilbert; seven grandchildren: Kate Eubanks [Josh] Huskey, Cord; Ben and Dan Eubanks, Batesville; Hannah Eubanks [Shane] Seaton, Caddo Valley; Ellen Eubanks [Shaun] McEwen, Fayetteville; Tori Eubanks [Waylon] Abernathy, Fayetteville; and Jay Eubanks, Fayetteville; and four great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Allie and Susanna Huskey of Cord and Wilder Seaton of Caddo Valley.

Visitation is 10:00 am March 9, followed by memorial service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church Arkadelphia. Interment is 3:00 pm at Watson Cemetery at Tinsman.
