Robert Pitts Ellington, age 89, of North Little Rock, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He was born Wednesday, January 25, 1922 in Little Rock, Arkansas; the son of the late I. B. and Lera Pitts Ellington. He served his country in the US Coast Guard and worked as a conductor for the railroad. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellington is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ellington, sister, Anita Welhouse, and daughter, Dorene Ellington. Surviving is daughter, Bobbye Ellington of Elora, TN, step-sons, Bill and Dick Bird of Arkansas as well as ten grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, P.O. Box 3968, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20885-3968. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Interment will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
