Robert Donald Bailey, Jr., better known as Don or Donny, went to be with his Lord on November 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marianne; their three sons, Robert III, Matthew and Seth; two daughters-in-law, LaRhesa and Cass; and eight grandchildren, Tessa, Fern, Robert IV, Jude, Seth II, Rose, Silas and Solomon. They all live on 40 acres in west Little Rock. Also surviving him are his father, R. D. Bailey, Sr. and sister, Jeannie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Jean Deatherage.
The priorities of Don's life were dominated by the mandates of God's Word. He feared and loved the Lord first, and tried to love his neighbor as himself. In loving his wife, he was trying to portray an example of how Christ loves the Church. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren, and by training his sons in the way of the Lord, God's truth will resonate through them and generations to come.
Don was not ashamed of the Gospel, which is the means of salvation for all people. He spoke the Gospel and he lived it. The Lord also gifted Don with a love and skill in many forms of art, including pottery, knife making and design. He used these gifts for the glory of God.
Don was a member of The Bible Church of Little Rock for 25 years, where a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 14. The church is located at 19111 Cantrell Road. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Robert D. Bailey, Jr. Memorial Fund at any Metropolitan National Bank.
