Robert Dean Wilson, 78, of Little Rock, passed away at home on Saturday, July 5, 2008. A former resident of Russellville, he was born October 4, 1929, in Atkins, Arkansas, to Ello E. Wilson and Stella Lawrence Wilson.
Bob, a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church, had a joke for every occasion and was the ultimate handyman. His career path led him from being an auto mechanic to working several years in industrial maintenance for Firestone and Grace Manufacturing. He also enjoyed establishing the Shiloh Road Christmas Tree Farm which he ran until moving to Little Rock in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Taylor Wilson; sons, Jim Wilson (Kathy) and Hung Nguyen (Amanda); stepsons, Billy Hovis (Cyndi) and Allen Hovis; daughters, Nita Fowler (David), Nia Nakamura and Deanna Smith (Rhett); a sister, Bettye Carpenter; fifteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lisa Wilson, and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7 at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Daniel Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Appleton Cemetery north of Russellville. Visitation will be this afternoon, Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Respiratory Health Association, 211 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
