Robert E. Briley, 90, a life-long resident of North Little Rock died January 20, 2019. Bob, as he was known to family and friends alike, was a WW II veteran and served in the Pacific with the Coast Guard. He later joined the LRFD and after retirement in 1978 worked in a variety of other jobs for over 30 years as well as a volunteer for various community projects throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Alice Ann who passed away on the same day in 2016. His son, Chief Warrant Officer Donovan Briley was killed in action in 1993 in the Battle of Mogadishu, as portrayed in the popular movie, “Blackhawk Down.”
Bob is survived by three other sons, Duke (Vicki), Danny (Leslie) and Micah (Margie) as well as eight grandchildren, Zac, Jake, Shelby, Seth, Jordan, Jerrod, Chelsey and Austin; six great-grandchildren and his sisters, Mary Alice House and Janet Mitchener.
Family visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a funeral service honoring his life at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Ave., North Little Rock. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church.
