Robert Lloyd Weathersby, Jr., of Little Rock, AR. died January 28, 2023, at the age of 82 of double pneumonia as a result of Covid 19. He was born January 4, 1941, at Kennedy Clinic in Smackover, AR. to Robert Lloyd (Dean) Weathersby, Sr. and Fannie Lois Murphy Weathersby.
He attended 1st grade through the 7th grade in Smackover, AR., 8th grade through 12th grade at Hahnville School in Hahnville, LA. He studied at LSU School Architecture and decided that was not what he wanted. He left LSU and studied with renowned southern artist and teacher, John McCrady at John McCrady Art School in New Orleans, LA.
On September 28, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane Frances Ramsey in Luling, Louisiana. They were married 60 years. In 1965 he and Frances moved from New Orleans, LA. to Little Rock, AR. They joined Christ Episcopal Church in 1967, where they were involved in bible study groups and home fellowship groups. He served a term on the Church Vestry.
After finishing art school at McCrady, Bob went to work for Mouton Art Associates in New Orleans, LA. as a graphic artist. In Arkansas, he Worked for Wayne Helms as a graphic artist. He worked as art director for Winthrop Rockefeller Public Relations. Mr. Rockefeller was Governor of Arkansas at this time. What a wonderful job! Bob loved working for the Governor. He designed material for the state, created projects for Mr. and Mrs. Rockefeller's personal requirements. He created print and sale material for Governor Rockefeller's farm and the Museum of Automobiles. After the Governor left office, he created Weathersby Art/Design and worked for himself until he was forced to retire in 2010 because of heart disease. He did not want to ever retire. He loved what he did.
He was a fan of Formula One Sports Car Racing and drove high performance cars. He and Frances went to Walt Disney World in September 1976 and from then on that is where they vacationed. It was truly the Most Wonderful Magical Place on Earth for them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Weathersby and his sister, Connie Lou Weathersby, and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, Shriners Hospital for Children, or the charity of your choice.
A reception will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St, Little Rock, followed by a service. Burial will be at Mount Holly Historic Cemetery, 1200 Broadway St., Little Rock at 1:00 pm.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Little Rock Funeral Home.
