Ricky O'Neal

Ricky ONeal, age 64, of Henderson, Texas, formerly of Kirby, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019. He was born on May 20, 1955, in Alexandria, Indiana, the son of Alex Richard ONeal and Lema Sue Barentine ONeal. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Shelah Whisler. Ricky was a graduate of Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary and served in ministry for several years. He was still actively involved in a prison ministry that was very important to him. He also served as a deacon at Grandview Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, running his dogs, snow skiing and the mountains of Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen "Cat" ONeal of Henderson, Texas; four children and their spouses, Kandy and James Owens of Kirby, Matthew and Sarah ONeal of Kirby, Micah and Dyana ONeal of Glenwood and Gage and Lecie ONeal of Benton; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Carroll Ray Grant of Benton, Joyce and Harold Turner of Glenwood, Sue and Joel Seals of Glenwood and Peggy and Danny Smith of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joel Cobb, Bro. Keith Shewbart and Bro. Harold Turner officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
