Rickie Joe Garner

Rickie Joe Garner, age 68, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. He was born on June 3, 1950 in Amity, the son of Alvin Garner and Willie Jean Cantrell Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents. On June 16, 1972, he was married to Lillie Caroline Copeland. Ricky was a retired timber worker and member of the Amity First Assembly of God Church. He loved singing and playing music. He considered it his ministry to bring gospel music to the residents of the local nursing home. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Garner of Amity; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rickie Allen and Susie Garner of Havana and Kevin Joegene and Cassandra Garner of Amity; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Garner and Terry Garner, both of Amity, and Danny Garner of Glenwood; and his nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 27, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Don Lane officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sweet Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Thomason, Chase Garner, Michael Griffin, Evan Tidwell, Dakota Hayes and Cory Hollingshead. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
