Richard Norman

Richard L. "Dick" Norman, 87, of Sherwood, passed away February 28, 2018. Born November 7, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa to Fletcher and Ester Ahrens Norman, Dick was a longtime member of Park Hill Christian Church where he engaged his passion for music, service, and worship.

Dick held many jobs in his life, but his favorite was the 20 years he spent as manager of Pike Lanes Bowling Alley. He was proud to have started the first deaf bowling league and to have initiated programs for children with special needs. After retiring from Pike Lanes, he loved volunteering at his church's food pantry, welcoming the community to his church to serve them. He also volunteered at St. Luke's respite care providing those with Alzheimer's and dementia songs, conversation and a sense of belonging. He loved people immensely - almost as much as he loved fishing.

Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Through example, he instilled the values of family, hard work, service, and most of all the love of Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Norman, daughter, Pam Yielding, and brother, Fletcher Norman. He is survived by sons, Larry Norman (Debbie) of Conway and Paul Norman of Sherwood; brother, Bob Norman of Iowa and sister, Winnie George of Lincoln; grandchildren, Amanda Cook, Stacy Isaacs, Mysti Drinkwater (Drew), Dever Norman and Mark Yielding; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hannah, Bailey, Benjamin, Zella, James, Olivia, Natalie and Jordanne.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Park Hill Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Joe Hodges. Memorials may be made to Park Hill Christian Outreach.

Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200. Dick's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
