Dr. Richard Mills passed peacefully from this life, into his eternal home on December 24, 2015. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, a tremendous friend to many, a beloved professor, and mentor to thousands of students. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife Pam of 47 years of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, two daughters, Kara Oosterhous (Tim) of Glenwood, and Jenny Williams (Richard) of Coppell, Texas. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Nate, Zac, and Ben Oosterhous and Matthew and Molly Williams.
Dr. Mills loved teaching during his 38 years at Ouachita Baptist University, serving as chairman of the Department of Sociology. He had a passion for taking long distance motorcycle trips with his dear friends Phillip Daily and Gaylen Schuck. He enjoyed his daily visits with his Andy's coffee crew. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family and five grandchildren.
A celebration of Richard's life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015, at First Baptist Church Arkadelphia with Dr. Lee McGlone and Dr. Lynn Worthen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Arrangements by Ruggles-Wilcox funeral home, Arkadelphia, AR (870-246-4551). Memorials may be sent to the Mills-Harrington scholarship fund, Ouachita Baptist University, Ouachita Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71998 or First Baptist Church, 623 Pine Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
