Richard “Bud” Higdon, age 82, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022.
He was born on July 21, 1939, in Hot Springs, the son of Otis Higdon and Juanita Louton Higdon. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jolly Higdon and John Paul Higdon; and two sisters, Sue Ferrell and Martha Figueroa.
He was a Hot Springs native, attended Lakeside High School where he played football, later getting his GED. Bud worked for Bell Helicopter in Ft. Worth, Texas for 34 years before retiring. He had an infectious personality and the ability to make life fun. He was a Christian man who adored his wife. Bud will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Jackie Higdon of Hot Springs; two daughters, Carla Higdon of Ft. Worth, Texas and Tamara Gray of Hot Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Heidi Higdon and Michael and Denise Higdon; two grandchildren, Kara Higdon and David Higdon; two sisters, Barbara Jane Moody and Sara Schoenle; two brothers, Tom (Janice) Higdon and Phillip Higdon; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Honorary pallbearers are Pierce Lowery and his wife, Liana and a special thank you to Hospice Homecare for their three years of dedicated care and Tonya Brown and the dedicated staff of the Blossoms Nursing and Rehab.
