Richard Goodrich

Richard L. (Dick) Goodrich, 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on August 2, 2010. Surrounded by family and friends, Dick left this earthly life to begin a new life with his Heavenly Father. Born December 7, 1929, in Gilroy, California, he was preceded in death by a son, James Goodrich and a brother, Ken Goodrich.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Bowden Goodrich, of Little Rock; brother, Bob Goodrich (Diane); daughters, Alicia Haynes (Shane) and Kathy Wright; sons, David Goodrich and Frank Portillo (Irene); nephews, Bobby Goodrich, Eric Goodrich (Michelle) and Keith Goodrich (Janet); nieces, Linda Goodrich and Karen Acosta (Lloyd); and 9 grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Dick worked in many different occupations which included owning two businesses, becoming a journeyman meat cutter, teaching public school music, and most recently working in the Development Department of Family Life Ministries in Little Rock. When asked what work experience he enjoyed most, he always replied that "teaching kids" and establishing relationships with donors to Family Life Ministries were his favorite occupations.
Growing up in California, Dick was very athletic and lettered in five sports in high school. In his adult life, he played golf and carried a five handicap. He also participated in water sports-fishing, boating, and water skiing. Since he also enjoyed recreational flying, he earned his pilot's license and was part owner of a Cessna. This enabled him to visit favorite sites and sights around his native California, many of which he recreated in one of his last hobbies-sketching.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010, in the Chapel of Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, preceded by visitation with the family at 10 a.m. until time of the service. A reception immediately following the service will be held in The Station at the church. Private interment will be at Memory Gardens in Hope, Arkansas Thursday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Life Ministries, Easter Seals of Arkansas, American Stroke Association, Fellowship Bible Church, or a charity of one's choice.
