Richard L. "Dick" Fleming age 81 of Sparkman died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Arkadelphia. He was born October 25, 1929 one of eleven children to William Augustus and Lennie Fitzhugh Fleming. Dick owned and operated Dick's Saw & Lawnmower Shop in Sparkman for many years and was a farmer. He was a member and deacon of Sparkman First Baptist Church and served as mayor of Sparkman for ten years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include his wife of over fifty-nine years, Glenda Hopper Fleming; one son, Rickey Fleming of Sparkman, Arkansas; three daughters, Yevonne Conrad and husband, Bill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Arlene Goza and husband, Jasper of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Anne Clayton and husband, Ben of Sparkman, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Brian Conrad, Faith Campbell, Drew Goza, Paul Goza, Trish Pennington, Christi Witherington, Daniel Clayton, Shawn Fleming and Emily Fleming; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Wilkins and husband, Thomas of Benton, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5th at Sparkman First Baptist Church with Bro. Wade Totty and Bro. Roy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
