Richard Earl Matthews was born on April 18, 1947. He passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father Earl D. Matthews, his mother Marjorie Anderson Matthews, and by his son Steven Earl Matthews. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sylvia Cofer Matthews, by brother David Kevin Matthews, his son Michael Aaron Matthews, his daughter- in- law Ashley Clark Matthews, his granddaughter Zoey Ruth Matthews, and his grandson Jude Michael Matthews.

Richard was an attentive, loving father and doting grandfather. Richard was a minister and pastor at several churches in Arkansas. He was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church for over 30 years and taught the Pathfinder Sunday School Class. He loved teaching God’s word. He lived his life by this verse, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the lord and not for men” Colossians 3:23.

Visitation is from 12-2 pm and the service will follow at 2 in the Griffin Leggett Chapel.
