Richard E. Cook, 83, of North Little Rock passed away on February 28, 2008. He was born on April 10, 1924 in Leslie, Arkansas to the late Minnie and Troy Cook.
Richard was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and prison chaplain. To many he will especially be remembered as director of the special education choir, making a joyful noise to the Lord.
Mr. Cook graduated from Russellville High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he proudly served our country during World War II as a Navy corpsman in the Pacific, specifically at Peleliu. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service at Little Rock. He was also a Gideon.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Cook; two daughters, Christy Furcron (Cliff) of North Little Rock and Sandy Durham (Charlie) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; four grandchildren, Angie Furcron of Fayetteville, Russ Furcron and wife, Maria, of North Little Rock, Erica Durham and Kristen Davis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and one great-grandson, Durham Davis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is also survived by one sister, Shirley Barker, of Springfield, Missouri.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. The funeral will be Monday, March 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Hill Baptist Church. The graveside will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
