April 9, 1929 — June 27, 2012

Richard Budlong,

Richard Clarke Budlong, Jr. of Little Rock, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away June 27, 2012. He was born April 9, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduated from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa with a degree in Economics and Business, and pursued a career in Insurance and Real Estate in Dallas. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri for several years, working with the real estate subsidiary of Missouri Pacific Railroad, then back to Dallas where he began Group Insurance Services, marketing group medical plans to Dallas employers. Richard loved his work and thought of his clients as "family" as well as business associates. He was a charter member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas where he served on the Diaconate and loved singing in the choir. Richard had a passion for the game of golf and couldn't understand why he was so inept at something he loved so much.
Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Edwards Budlong; daughter, Martha Lee Mann and husband, Jason of Little Rock; son, Douglas Clarke Budlong of Seattle, Washington; brother, Edwin Conrad Budlong and wife, Celia of Salinas, California; grandchildren, Meredith Leigh Mann and Joshua Andrew Mann; sister-in-law, Joanne Edwards of Gulfport, Mississippi; one niece and three nephews.
A service will be held in the Chapel of Parkway Village, 14300 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, on Sunday, July 1 at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Baptist Health Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Rd., Ste. 2000, Little Rock, AR 72210 or to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205.
