Emblem

Richard Wayne (Bob) Barringer, 84 of Little Rock, Arkansas, ascended to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 16, 2025, with his family surrounding him. He was born in Warren, Arkansas, on January 15, 1941 and is preceded in death by his father, Hilliard Barringer, his mother, Odell Coddington Barringer and a daughter Lisa Lynn Barringer Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacquie Cruce Barringer, a son, Richard Todd Barringer (wife Jessie), a daughter, Lana Barringer Orman, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Bob was a gentle man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was proud to have been the left-handed quarter back for the Warren Lumberjacks when he was younger, a member of the United States Air Force, serving our country in a non-combat role during the Vietnam War and his contributions to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry.

After completing his Air Force service, he was employed by the National Security Agency and returned to Arkansas with his family in 1976 where he was employed by the National Center for Toxicological Research.

Being a photographer for Pinnacle Church of Christ brought him much pleasure and blessings. Especially pictures of the church ‘littles’ who remembered him every week that he was ill with colored pictures of the current Sunday School lesson. He also enjoyed writing, having written three historical fiction novels (unpublished).

In 2001, Bob started a non-profit organization called "Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry (AHFH)" when he saw a need in the state and a resource to fill that need through Arkansas' hunters. He knew many families in Arkansas were struggling to put meat on the table and was determined to find a way to help. Bob worked tirelessly to build Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry into what is is today. Since 2001, AHFH has provided over one million meals to Arkansas citizens in need.

His most cherished awards include induction into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame in 2023 and ‘Poppa of the Year’, every single year by one or another of his grands and/or great grands.

Bob’s celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home.
