Richard "Dick" E. Bell, 68, of Little Rock died Thursday, July 14, 2011. Dick was born in North Little Rock on December 26, 1942. He was a graduate of Central High School, spending part of his high school years at Jacksonville due to the well known Central High Crisis. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (known as Little Rock University at the time) in 1965 with a degree in Business.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Franc and Martha Denton Bell. Survivors include his wife, Tessie Zilvinskis Bell; daughters, Christy Bell Hale (James), and Sammie Bell Sustaita (Oscar); brother, Gary Bell (Wendy) of Irving, TX; five grandchildren; cousins Pat Ingram and Bill Denton; and numerous friends.
His lifelong love of the Boy Scouts of America took him to the rank of Eagle Scout and membership in the prestigious Order of the Arrow. He continued that passion thru his work with other young men at Camp Quapaw for eight years. One of his many legacies is the gift he gave to these young men during their formative years at the camp.
His strong faith was known by all who attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dick served in numerous capacities at the church, and was an avid member of the neighborhood team that contributed to the annual Rexfest fundraising event. Dick also contributed his time and talent to Helping Hand of Little Rock and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 812.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Church (501) 225-6774, with a Vigil Service immediately following at 7:00 p.m. Please come visit the family and stay for the Vigil Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Church with Monsignor Francis I. Malone celebrant. Dick chose cremation services, and his final resting place at Edgewood Cemetery in North Little Rock.
