Rev. Robert Trieschmann

Robert Watson Trieschmann, Sr., age 80, a longtime resident of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, January 8, 2006, at his home. He was born October 16, 1925, in Little Rock; the son of the late John Werner and Cora Watson Trieschmann. He was the youngest of four children, and was preceded in death by a brother, John Werner Trieschmann, Jr. He was a minister in the United Methodist Church, Little Rock Annual Conference, for 40 years, retiring in 1988, first serving a community circuit and as Chaplin at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas while attending Seminary at Southern Methodist University. Upon graduation he served at Geyer Springs Methodist Church in Geyer Springs for five years, the First Methodist Church of Hamburg for four years, Oak Forest Methodist Church in Little Rock for three years, First Methodist Church of Smackover for three years, First Methodist Church of Nashville for two years, and the Okolona Circuit and Manchester Methodist Churches while serving the Wesley Foundation for 11 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps, and as a Chaplin in the Army National Guard. He was also a volunteer Athletics' Trainer for Henderson State University for 22 years, performing volunteer work for the football, basketball, and field and track teams. He was very active in The Wesley Foundation for many years, and loved working with the youth and was a mentor for many younger ministers. He continued to be active in the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia, leading the weekly Men's Bible Class.


Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Carolyn Cypert; son, Robert Watson, Jr., and his wife, Betty, of Texarkana; daughter, Rebecca Beth and her husband, Stan Elrod of Bismark; son, John Cypert, and his wife, Suzanne, of Bismark; and son, Thomas Henry, and his wife, Lynn, of St. Louis; and eight grandchildren: Amy Lawrence, Jay Trieschmann, Brad Elrod, Melanie Bobo, Michael Elrod, Ben Trieschmann, Rebekah Trieschmann, and Rachel Trieschmann; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Henry of Little Rock and Virginia Pierson of Natchitoches, Louisiana.


Funeral service will be 10:00 Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at funeral home.
Honorary Pall Bearers are the Clergy of the United Methodist Churches of Arkansas, and the members the Men's Bible Class of the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia.
