Rev. Maynard Carl Gonterman (Colonel, USAF retired), 91, left this world peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. He was born in Litchfield, Illinois in 1920. Maynard later married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Jean Satterlee on December 24, 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II and continued serving his country until September 1965. After retirement from the USAF, he worked for what would become Franklin Electric Motors until his retirement in 1987. On his 80th birthday he was ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church and served at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock.
Rev. Gonterman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley and his grandson, John Gonterman. He is survived by his daughters, Georgia Gonterman Waid and husband, Bill, of Davis, California, Anne Gonterman of North Little Rock; son, Chris Gonterman and wife, Vicki, of North Little Rock; brother, Kenneth Gonterman, of Seal Beach, California; grandson, Michael Waid, of Yuba City, California; granddaughter, Kristin Waid Lomas, of Davis, California; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Teague, Hannah Lomas, Patrick Waid, Noah Waid and Grace Ann Waid.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with interment at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com .
