Rev. Rita Kaye Hammett Evans, age 70, of Rogers passed away at home March 19, 2018.
Rev. Evans was born March 2, 1948 in Beebe, Arkansas to Rev. Gerald and Mrs. Norma Jean (West) Hammett. She was a graduate of Beebe High School, Hendrix College, and Perkins School of Theology at SMU. A lifetime active United Methodist, she retired in 2013 after 27 years serving as a United Methodist pastor in Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her father, and the father of her children, Rev. T. Nichols (Nick) Evans.
Kaye is survived by her mother, and her children, Rev. Hammett N. Evans (Michelle Pounds) of Bryant, Brice Evans of Little Rock, and Eleanor Evans of Rogers.
Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 26 in the Family Life Center of First United Methodist Church of Bryant, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. with Pete Weber and Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder officiating. A brief graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens cemetery in Beebe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heifer International. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.
