Reverend Ronald Calvert

Reverend Ronald Leon Calvert age 82, went on to his reward May 29, 2020. He was survived in death by his Daughter Cheryl married to Pastor Craig Sissel, three Grandchildren; Cameron Calvert married to Malee, Morgan Sissel, and Michaela Calvert. One future great-grand baby; Charleene Ann Calvert, expected date of arrival, September 2020.Daughter-in-law; Stacy Calvert-Yeats married to Rusty Yeats.One sister; Regina Rogers.  Many nieces and nephews, and an abundant amount of friends.

He was preceded in death by; his wife Garneda (Charlene) Calvert, son, Rev Ronald (Brent) Calvert, parents Rev. Earl and Buela Calvert, 4 brothers: Earl Calvert “Junior”, Billy Gene Calvert, Danny Calvert, Donald Calvert, and 2 sisters; Elizabeth Domerese, Naomi Calvert.

Rev. Calvert was born on November 14, 1937  in Marissa Illinois. In 1942 at the age of 5, his parents moved to Kansas City, Missouri. His father founded the first United Pentecostal Church in the Kansas City area.

On February 5, 1960, he married the love of his life, Garneda “Charlene” Brazear.  During this time he was a carpenter and brick layer. On March 14, 1976 he became the pastor of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Kansas City and pastored for 26 ½ years. Bro. and Sis. Calvert were married for 30 years. In December of 1990 she went on to be with the Lord.

In July of 2002 he retired and his son Rev. Brent Calvert became pastor. Shortly after the passing of his son in June of 2011 he moved to Little Rock Arkansas to live close to his grandchildren, Cameron and Michaela.

He is remembered by his love for the truth, and his passion for worship and holiness. He loved people and never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

Bro. Calvert always made everyone feel loved and special. He  was truly a Gentleman, kindhearted and the TRUE LOVE OF GOD radiated from him. We will miss his smile and his teddy bear hugs. He will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at First Pentecostal Church. Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Caney Cemetery.
