Rev. Boyd H. Owens

Rev. Boyd Owens, age 92, of Bismarck, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

He was born on May 26, 1929, in Point Cedar, the son of Loyd Owens and Lytha Bennett Owens. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Irene Smiley Owens on January 8, 1981; his second wife, Judy Ferguson Owens on July 11, 2018; his parents; his daughter, Nancy Brotherson; his grandson, Travis Owens; his infant great-granddaughter; two brothers, Roy Owens and Melvin Owens; and one sister, Verna Steier.

He was a United States Navy Veteran and served his country proudly. Rev. Boyd was a Full Gospel Minister and Missionary, who dedicated his life to the service of the Lord and his family. He spent many years building churches and working in any capacity that showed his love for his Lord. He was truly the patriarch of our large Christian family and loved each of us with all his heart and he will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Linda Liggett, Esther Brotherson, Jan Hutcheenson, Donny Brotherson, Katy Messer, John Brotherson, Bobby Owens, Darleen Bays and her husband, Chuck, Rashel Garcia and her husband, Macario, James Jubilee Owens and his wife, Kelly, Sharon Owens, Amanda Melton and Eric Melton; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Dolly Owens; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 25, 2022, in the New Hope Church in Glenwood with Pastor Ciro Murguia officiating.

Interment with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honors Team will be at 4:00 PM, in the Philippi Cemetery, near Point Cedar.

Pallbearers will be James Owens, Michael Owens, Davis Owens, Macario Garcia, Gideon Garcia and John Thurlow.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
