Retired Chief William P. Nolan, 71, of North Little Rock passed away Friday, October 23, 2009. He was a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, retired after 42 years in law enforcement, 17 years in New Orleans, 14 years in Homewood, Illinois as Chief of Police and 11 years in North Little Rock as Chief of Police. He also retired from the Army National Guard with 20 years. He was ordained as a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church by Cardinal Bernardine in 1985 and was currently serving as deacon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gay Nolan; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Barbara Nolan, of North Little Rock and Chris and Cathy Nolan, of Frankfort, Illinois; two daughters, Holly Wardingley, of North Little Rock and Sherry Liesse and her husband, Thomas of Glenwood, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Kelly, Casey, Shannan, Morgan and Garrett.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by the Vigil service.
