Retha Brown Petty

Retha Brown Petty, age 79, of Glenwood, died Saturday, March 1, 2014. She was born on April 20, 1934 in Sherwood, Texas, the daughter of Arthur Ray Newberry and Juanita Adline Sartain Newberry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Allie J. Brown; her second husband, William Petty; and her son, Keith Brown. She was a licensed practical nurse for over 40 years and a member of the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Elaine Brooks of Hot Springs, Nancy Banks and Karen Tidwell, both of Glenwood; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Jones of Amity; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; her brother, Joe Newberry of Greenville, Texas; and her sister, Maydell Snell of Aztec, New Mexico. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
