Reo Dale Sanders, 88, of Sherwood died on Friday, June 8, 2007. He was born August 23, 1918 at Stahl, Adair County, Missouri. He was the son of Lemuel Thomas Sanders and Edna Mae Gray. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amy Barnes Sanders; one daughter, Kay and her husband Herb Moore, and one son, James and his wife, Anna; six grandchildren, Jill Weir (Doug), Julie Dibee (Jon), Laura Norman (Nick), Chris Moore (Erica), Jon Moore, (Kerri), Melissa Nease (Cory); ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob Sanders (Bertha) of Rochester, Minnesota; three nephews and a multitude of cousins and friends.
He was a World War II veteran having served four years, seven months and two days in the Army. He retired from the post office in 1977 after beginning his career in 1948 with the Railway Mail Service. He was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, a Past Master and fifty- year member of Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754 and 32nd degree Mason; Past Patron of Sylvan Hills Order of the Eastern Star #602 (now affiliated with Florence Chapter #15) and a former Marshall of the town of Sherwood in 1948. He was a member of the Sherwood Volunteer Fire Dept. (Pulaski County Fire Protection Dist. No. 5) since its organization in 1951. He served as Assistant Chief from 1955 until he retired in 1984.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church, Rev. Jim Rowland officiating, with Masonic rites. Entombment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
