Raymond Lynn Roberts (82) of Cabot was born on January 8th, 1941, to Jesse and Ethel Roberts, and he went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. Rawhide married his high school sweetheart, Retha (Posey), on October 8, 1960. They spent over 56 years together and raised two daughters Pamela Lynn and Debra Rae.
Raymond and Retha co-founded Roberts-Mcnutt Inc. with Jerry McNutt in 1968. Raymond retired after 37 years. The company started with no business plan, only $500 each, a pick-up truck and a dream. The plan was to give quality service to the community and respect to their employees. It quickly grew to be one of the most respected waterproofing and roofing companies in the state.
Raymond would only travel if there was an adventure or hunt to be had. He went to Cuba during the embargo. He elk hunted in Colorado, nearly freezing in a tent. He has been to Paris, Alaska, Mexico, and Barbados. In the early years, he would hit the woods to bring food home to his family. He grew gardens, raised beagles, and lived off the land. What was once a necessity became a passion. He found peace in the mountains of Alread, Arkansas where his little cabin sits. Decades of good times and big bucks will continue to go on in his legacy.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Roberts Smith (Allen); two granddaughters, Amanda and Alexandra (Ally) Smith; brother Jerry Roberts; three nieces; two nephews; his caregivers who became family, Mona Davidson and Tim Cox; and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Retha (Duke) Roberts; daughter, Debra Rae Roberts; brothers, Edward and James Roberts; sister, Lois Boyd; and niece, Phyllis Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main St, North Little Rock, AR 72114.
A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Austin, Arkansas.
