Ray Edwards, 80, of Sherwood died Friday, October 17th, 2014. He was born in Opal, Arkansas on January 28th, 1934 to the late Raymond and Esther Neal Edwards. Ray was a Navy veteran, served during Korea, and a member of First Baptist Church of Sylvan Hills. He worked as a Veteran Counselor for the Veterans Administration until his retirement, was a loving family man who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.
Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melba Freeman Edwards, his daughter, Mary Smith of Sherwood, by three grandchildren: Gage Sowell, Brooke Smith, and Dillon Edwards, by his sister, Pat Smith of Nash, Texas, his brother-in-law, James Edward Freeman of Pine Bluff, and nieces, nephews, and other extended family that will miss him. He was also preceded in death by his brother Elvis Edwards.
Funeral services are Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., October 21 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home with visitation being prior to service from 10:00 to 11:00, burial in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visit www.smithfamilycares.com for online guest register.
