Ray W. Bowles, 82 of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009. He was a retired interior decorator and designer, and was a graduate of New York School of Design, New York City. He designed windows for Gus Blass Department Store, and Ila Lowe?s Millinery in Little Rock in the 50?s when he was young. In New York City he worked for Brooks Brothers, Revlon, and Kodak, as well as doing free lance work. Ray was a member of Pulaski Heights Christian Church.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda S. Hicks and husband, Allen, and Delores K. Casey and husband, Larry, all of Little Rock; 2 nieces and one nephew, Patti Ely, Suzanne Brown, and Charles Stuart Bowles; sisters in law, Maurina Bowles of Boise, Idaho, and Laverne Bowles of Hot Springs; and former wife, Hazel Geneva Whatley, of Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.M. and Bessie M. Bowles, and 2 brothers, Andrew Donald Bowles and Eldon Kenneth Bowles; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Marie McQuerry.
Funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
