Ramona Susan Hill

Ramona Susan Hill, 75, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Our sweet mother and “Nana” finally succumbed to her long, brave battle with congestive heart failure.  A special thanks to the staff at Baptist Heart Failure Clinic.

Ramona was born May 18, 1947 to Everett and Vada Chism Hill in Houston, AR. They later moved to Little Rock, where Ramona was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Class of 1965. She then embarked on her rewarding career as Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Labor Union Local 878 for the next 34 years.

In retirement, Ramona blossomed with new hobbies of water aerobics, swing dancing at the Bop Club, and taking art classes.  Ramona was also a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

As a talented artist, Ramona found a new passion for painting and looked forward to socializing with her artist friends every week at the Natural Steps Art Studio.  

Ramona is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rodney Hill. She is survived by her daughters, Angie Johnson and Jill Staton, of Little Rock. She was a proud Nana of her two “perfect” grandchildren, Reese and Brooks Johnson, who could do no wrong. She is also survived by numerous cousins and a host of close friends.

To know Ramona, is to know she brightened a room with her beautiful smile and gorgeous blue eyes as well as her colorful outfits.  She loved going out for Mexican food, treating her grandkids to ice cream, going to the movie theatre, and social gatherings with her many groups of friends.

Because she missed out on participating in cherished outings due to her health issues. Let’s honor Ramona with a celebration of her life in the same way she lived.

Leave your tears and drab attire at home. Bring your smiles, laughter, and fun memories. Come celebrate with us wearing something colorful and cheerful. She would have preferred it that way.

There will be an informal Celebration of Life Visitation on Friday, Sept 16th from 10:00am - Noon at Smith Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., North Little Rock, AR, 72114.
