His professional life was spent in the heating and air conditioning industry in many capacities, retiring from Carrier Corporation in 1991 as Sales Manager in field sales.

In retirement, his service impacted his community for 20 years plus as a leader in all his chosen activities, from working in public gardens as a Pulaski County Master Gardener to acting as President of Sherwood Rotary and NLR Baptist Hospital Auxiliary for one year each, to raising funds for the Baptist Health System by acting as co-chairman of the golf committee of the NLR auxiliary for many years.

Ray was baptized in 1988 and was a faithful, hard-working Christian at Windsong Church of Christ in Maumelle (formerly 6th and Izard, Little Rock).
