Another Angel has been called home. Rachel Lynn Thomas, 55, of Benton passed on July 24, 2019 after suffering a terminal illness. Rachel was born in Dallas, TX. She called Jones, LA her home until she relocated to Arkansas, where she made Benton her home.
She is survived by her father, Cecil Thomas of Jones, LA; one sister: Angela Johnson (Kris) of Bryant, Arkansas; nephew: Kyle Johnson (Natasha) and great-niece, Paloma Johnson all of Decatur, Alabama; nephew, K.C. Johnson (Lindsey) of Bryant, Arkansas; and many family members and friends who love Rachel and will miss her always.
Rachel was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille "Lucie" Miller of the home; and grandparents, Nonnie and A.C. Taylor.
Rachel was raised as a tom boy, she could be seen riding farm equipment, as her grandfather maintained a farm. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt and many memories will remain of times at the deer camp as a child.
She attended Hamburg High School and later relocated to Scott, Arkansas, where she worked on a sod farm. Later, she worked as a lawn and grounds keeper.
Many Thanks to Dr. Heather Moore and Anita at UAMS Cancer Center and other staff at the infusion 1st & 4th floors as she received chemotherapy, many days dealing with constant pain where she wasn't always the best patient.
In addition, many thanks to Hospice Home Care and those at Cottage Lane Health and Rehab for their nursing care, kindness and understanding.
