Rachel McAlister, age 74, of Emmet, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
She was born on June 24, 1947, in Amity, the daughter of Clarence William Cook and Maudie Sullivan Cook. On June 15, 2007, she was married to John McAlister. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her infant sister, Mattie Louise Cook.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for the Glenwood Nursing Home for many years. After she retired, she enjoyed gardening, canning, mowing the lawn and just enjoyed being at home. Rachel had a generous heart, always doing for everyone, but will be most remembered by everyone who knew her as a true prayer warrior, who loved God and would read her Bible every day. She always loved to leave prayer notes all over the house for John to find, even in the most unexpected places. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, John McAlister of Emmet; her sister, Audie Sue Adams of Yukon, Oklahoma; her nephew, Brandon Spann of Ruskin, Florida; her nieces and their spouses, Cheri and Kirk Schneider of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Michelle and Antonio Rodriguez of Monument, Colorado; and numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 1, 2022, in the Friendship Cemetery in Amity with Bro. Donnie Dillard officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
