Rachael Davenport, of North Little Rock , passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock . She was born on July 4, 1924 in Atlanta , Georgia ; she was the daughter of Ralph Molina Ramos and Louise Price Ramos. Rachael attended the University of Georgia Atlanta Division Education & Little Rock Junior College and received her B.S.N. From the University of Arkansas, and a Masters Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Central Arkansas, and was an Instructor, she was a member of the Arthritis Foundation of Aquatics Arthritis Self Help and Clinical Coordinator for Chronic Medical, Psychiatric and Alcohol Abuse Services from 1976 - 1982, Medical Clinical Coordinator for Acute Medical Service, a former resource nurse, Neurological Nursing Supervisor, Head Nurse of Operating Room, Long Term Health Care Unit & Chief Nurse of Evening Nurse Services, working for Trinity Clinic and Hospital, Staff Nurse St. Vincent Infirmary 1947. Organizational Memberships, American Nurses Association (Membership Chair, 1950 - 1951.,) Arkansas League of Nursing Board Member; Arkansas Diabetes Association (Co-Founder, 1957) Arkansas Arthritis Foundation ARK Chapter; Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Xi Chapter (Charter Member ) National Association for Female Executives; American Business Woman's Association; National Association of Dance Exercise Instructor. Community Activities; Arkansas League of Arthritis; Girl Scout Leader Troop 99, 1955- 1967, Boy Scout Den Mother, 1958 - 1959, Heritage Seekers, Geological Association of North Little Rock, President 1984 Shepherd Center of North Little Rock; National Association of Retired Employees; Voice of the Retarded; State Developmental Disability Services Parent Association, member Pike Avenue Baptist Church, Creative Works & Oil Paintings Member. Published works; contributor of Articles to Nursing Medical Journals; Book; Memories of Marvin, 1992. Honors and Awards, Arthritis Foundation 1991; Inducted into North Little Rock Senior Citizen Hall of Fame 1993; United Way Volunteer Award 1992; Governor's Volunteer Award, 1993; Arthritis Foundation Award; 1988, 89, 90. Finally two of her proudest accomplishments in her life, other than her children and family, was one; being in the top ten finalist for the Role of Scarlett O'Harra 1938, and two, she is the reason that the North Little Rock Senior Citizen's Center has their swimming pool. She loved art more than anything, she loved helping others, painting, and writing, leading and mentoring. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James B. Davenport, daughter Karen Cadarette, twin brothers Marvin Ramos and Marion Ramos, Atlanta , Georgia . Survivors include her sons Buddy Davenport of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Harold Davenport, Harold Ramos, brother, Atlanta, GA, Adeline Barker sister in law, nieces; Donna Carlson, Dee Ramos, Kathy Ramos, Pat McClendon; nephews Steve Ramos, Ralph Ramos, Steve Carlson, Chad Carlson & her extended family at Briarwood Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Paul Holderfield officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Little Rock . The family would like to thank and highly recommend Briarwood Nursing to any family that needs quality and loving care.
