Phyllis Jo Morris

Phyllis Jo Morris, age 72, peacefully passed away on August 12th, 2024, at home in Beebe. She was born on March 12th, 1952, in Beebe to Elmer and Ruby(Tozer) Champlin.

Phyllis was a retired small business owner of Morris Bookkeeping Service. Her hobbies included keeping a keen eye on her neighborhood, scenic drives with David, shopping with the Champlin Girls, and occasional trips to the boat.

Phyllis’s true passion has always been her family. She spent many hours in gymnasiums and ballparks following Misty and Nathan’s sports teams. After years of supporting David in the sport of Trapshooting, Phyllis volunteered and served on the Board or Directors for the Arkansas State Trapshooting Federation. Not one to miss out on the fun, she even took up the sport for a few years. Continuing with her desire to be active, when Misty and Nathan were in college, Phyllis convinced David to take up line dancing. Many friendships were developed in dance halls across the state. Before long, this was set aside to faithfully follow the Lonoke Lady Jackrabbit Basketball Team for many years. She loved these girls and enjoyed keeping up with them beyond high school. In her most recent years, she was a very proud and devoted Gaga to Cambree and Cooper. She filled their time together with immense amounts of laughter, reading books, rides in their red wagon, and just generally spoiling them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Elmer Champlin; in-laws, Earl Sr. and Louise Morris; and two sisters, Recie Langford and Norma Crutchfield.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 53 years David Morris; daughter, Misty Morris of Fayetteville, son, Nathan Morris and wife, Devon and their children, Cambree and Cooper, all of Cherry Valley; two sisters, Shirley Sanders of Ward, Betty Plummer of Cabot; brother-in-law, Bill Crutchfield of Ward, and sister-in-law, Jackie Chrisnot of Athens, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including devoted friend Beki (Deb) Wisdom of Beebe.
