Phyllis J. Mallett

Phyllis J. Mallett, 81, of Little Rock, passed away May 12, 2023. Born in Little Rock, she attended Little Rock Central High School and graduated from T.J. Raney High School in 1958.  She graduated from Baptist School of Nursing in 1962, earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Henderson State University, and retired from Baptist Hospital after proudly serving in various supervisory roles over her 40-year career. She enjoyed photography, gardening, traveling, going to the lake, fishing, and other hobbies. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and caring for others.

Phyllis passed away with her family by her side after courageously facing many complications of diabetes. She never complained about any health challenge she faced for several years.

Preceded in death by her parents, Effie Mae and Autry Burrow, she is survived by her husband and devoted caretaker, Norman Earl Mallett whom she married in June,1963; her daughter, Nancy Mallett Hyde; granddaughter, Savannah Mallett; sister, Janice Burris (Ronald); brother-in-law, Robert Mallett; and nieces and nephews, Randy, Missy, Lisa, Leslie, Chris, Jacinda and Stacey.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 18 beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the service at 11:00, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Pallbearers will be Randy Burris, Robert Roling, Oliver Roling, Lucas Roling, Stephen Grace, Jade Snyder, Ronald Burris (honorary) and Robert Mallett (honorary).
