Phyllis Jean Loftis, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, and loving great-grandmother, passed away on October 20, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on December 13, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Phyllis had a life rich in love and family with a warm personality, Phyllis was known for her deep dedication to those she loved. She proudly spent 55 years by the side of her husband, Ray Loftis. They nurtured a close-knit family that blossomed under her care and affection. Phyllis is survived by her three children, Ronald Purtle, Malissa Purtle, and Jack Loftis. She enjoyed watching her family grow, and her legacy continues with her grandchildren, Elizabeth Spencer and her husband, Matthew, Jodie Loftis, Shelby Loftis, and her great-granddaughter, Emma Spencer.

Phyllis had a passion for making memories with her loved ones, evident in her joyful adventures on tropical cruises and her love for softball. She and Ray also shared a special involvement in their community, operating the concession stands at the Bryant ball field, where they became beloved fixtures until the city took over. 

Phyllis was also a sister, remembered fondly by Patricia Cole and Paula Loftis and her husband, Gary. She leaves behind a legacy of love that echoes through the lives she touched.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Jack Wortham; her mother, Nellie Fairchild Carlock; her son, Joe Purtle; and her granddaughter, Sarah Purtle. Their spirits remain intertwined with hers, a reminder of the bonds of family that endure beyond this life.

A memorial service to honor Phyllis will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St. in Benton, Arkansas. 

Phyllis Jean Loftis will be remembered not only for her unwavering love and support for her family but also for the joy and laughter she brought into their lives. As they gather to celebrate her remarkable life, her spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know and love her.
