Phillip Tackett

Phillip Lafayette Tackett, Sr., of North Little Rock, left us on March 14, 2018. He was born to James Lafayette Tackett, Jr. and Demia Ruth Langford on December 19, 1932 in Wattensaw (Lonoke County), Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul Everett Tackett, brothers, Buddy, Jiggs, Bill and Emory, and sister, Alice.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Freddie Jo Barton Tackett; children, Phillip Lafayette Tackett, Jr. (Karyn) of Little Rock, Mark Preston Tackett (Michelle) of Sherwood, Perry Martin Tackett (Mary) of Scott, and Cheryl Tackett Smith (Steve) of Bryant; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eighteen nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Phillip worked in the printing business for 52 years. He founded Target Printing in 1963, and sold it in 1969. Missing his own business, he started Tackett Printing in 1978. He retired to Greenbrier, Arkansas in 2001, and returned to North Little Rock in 2017.

He spent many years with his boys as a Cub Scout Master, and served as President of the Ole Main Booster Club. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Sinai Lodge #749/Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754, and lifetime member in the Scottish Rite Bodies where he obtained his KCCH. He was Past Monarch of Bendemeer Grotto where he was also a lifetime member, York Rite Mason and Past Commander of Hugh de Payne Commandry #1.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Wednesday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Arkansas Memorial Gardens in North Little Rock.
