Perry B. Holloway, 92, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009. He was born in Gum Springs, Arkansas to James and Fay Holloway. He was preceded in death by his brother, J.W. Holloway and sister, Helen Higham.
Perry was a member of Central Baptist Church, a member of United Transportation Union and Local 656 for over 50 years. He worked for Missouri Pacific and The Union Pacific Railroads for over 44 years, and was a Conductor on Amtrak when he retired. He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School, proudly served his country in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant. with the 4th Infantry Division and was in the invasion of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) Rhineland and Western Germany. He received the Purple Heart, ETO with 5 stars (Five Battles) and Arrowhead, Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Blazer Holloway; two sons, Perry "Bud" Holloway Jr., of North Little Rock and Garry Holloway (Misty) of Saratoga, California; grandson, John Holloway, of Santa Clara, California; granddaughter, Cheryl Holloway, of New York City; nephew like a son, Larry Rea (Miriam) of Germantown, Tennessee; and other special nieces and nephews.
Perry loved to fish, garden and most of all play the piano. After retirement he spent many hours playing the piano.
The family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice for their exceptional care and also the Hospice Volunteers, Bettye Clemens and Ann Woods--They were always there when we needed someone.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Private burial will be in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 P.M., Thursday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
