Penny D. Harper

Penny Harper, 77 of Sherwood went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Oscar Hughes and her brother, Kenny Hughes.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Harper, her two children, John Duke and Shannon Ward and a step-daughter, Stacy Harper. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Zack Ward, Trayce Ward, Mary Marty, Lily Drake, Gracie Patterson, Kelsey Sullivan and Nicholas Roper.

Penny graduated from North Little Rock Old Main high school in 1962. She graduated from Blackwood Beauty School and opened a Salon in Levy. She also owned and operated Penny’s Cake World in Pine Bluff. Most of all, she was a much appreciated wife and a doting mother and grandmother.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Barton and his nurse, Amie Crow for taking such good care of Penny the last few years. They would also like to thank their neighbor, friend and nurse practitioner, Mike Seamon for his help in difficult times. A special thanks to her good friend, Nancy King, who stood by her side through it all.

The visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday, July 26^th at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Highway 107). Funeral will be at 9:30am Wednesday, July 27^th at the funeral home with burial following at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
