Peggy (Mary Margaret) Wells

Peggy (Mary Margaret) Wells, 69, passed away on November 4, 2023. She was the eldest of six children. Peggy is predeceased by her parents, James W. and Agnes C. Wells, two nieces, Sara E. Wells and Rachel M. Rutledge and brother-in-law Kris Kane. Peggy is survived by her siblings Mark (Vicky) Wells, Kathy (Joel) Rutledge, Janie Kane, Scott Wells and John (Christy) Wells. She is also survived by nephews Andrew Wells, Dan Rutledge and Connor Kane and niece Kathryn Kane.

Special thanks to Open Arms Care and our honorary sister, Tamica and her staff.

Peggy graduated valedictorian of the class of 1972 at Mt St Mary Academy and received an Alcoa Scholarship. She obtained her Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1976, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Peggy set the academic bar high for her siblings. She relocated to Lake Jackson, Texas where she worked for Dow Chemical for 30+ years, during which she obtained her MBA and achieved a black belt in Six Sigma. She ultimately retired as a project manager with Angus Chemical (now Advancion), a subsidiary of Dow, in Sterlington, LA.

Peggy loved to travel and was looking forward to a February 2024 trip to see the northern lights. She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, six and twelve string guitars and lending her vocal talents to the choir at St James Methodist Church during their annual Christmas Cantata.

Peggy always had a dachshund as a companion. She loved her dogs and spoiled them rotten. They were part of the family. She enjoyed needlepoint in the last few years and produced some beautiful items that her family will cherish.

We will miss you, sister. Rest in Peace, you’ve certainly earned it.

Services will be private. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of choice.
