Peggy Key Husted, 82, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at her home in Malvern. She was born August 16, 1925 on Crawford Lane in Arkadelphia to Clyde and Myrtle Key. Eighty-two years later she passed away on another Crawford Lane, this time in Malvern with her family at her side.
She married Harleth Husted, and together they had three children. Left to celebrate her life are her son, Bill, (wife, Mary); son Scott and daughter, Susan Murch (husband, Carl). She had one brother, William "Hot" Key (wife Beverlee). Peggy had two grandchildren, Laura Murch Shudrowitz (husband, Brian) and Matthew Murch. She was a new great-grandmother to William Paul Shudrowitz.
As the first switchboard operator for Henderson State University, people often remarked they could hear her smile as she answered their call.
Peggy relished in the simple treasures life had to offer. She was an early riser who loved to fish, garden, and take long walks. A breeze in the trees, the crash of a wave on a beach, or the sound of a rain shower always brought a smile to her face.
Peggy taught herself to oil paint, and she loved to read her mystery novels. She was a child at heart as she watched for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of a deer in her backyard, a hummingbird at its feeder, or a snowflake in the sky.
A private service for family members will be held at her home.
