Pebble Waites

Pebble Waites, age 97, of Glenwood, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

She was born on December 31, 1925, in Lodi, the daughter of Richard Parker and Irena Cowart Parker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Waites, Jr.; her daughter, Sharon Wood; and her nine siblings.

Pebble was a long-time member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church before joining Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in 1986. On July 24, 1943, Pebble married the love of her life,  James. Pebble lived her entire life as the true meaning of the scriptures in the Bible in Proverbs 31, the Virtuous Woman. She always put God first and her family a close second. She was a wonderful cook and brought the best dishes to her church’s potlucks and family reunions. She loved flowers and watching out for her turkeys. Above all, Pebble was a loving wife, mother, and mamaw and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, David Anthony “Tony” and Ann Waites of Glenwood; her son-in-law, Keith Wood of Hot Springs; her three grandchildren and their spouses, Cindi Johnson of Fort Smith, Chris and Tennille Johnson of Kirby, and David and Jenn Waites of Draper, Utah; her great-grandchildren Camryn Johnson, Charlee Johnson, and Tyler Waites; her sister, Virgie Arivett of Glenwood; her sister-in-law, Betty Thies of Fenton, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jack Herring and Bro. Ron Parker officiating.
