Pauline Land

Pauline Land, 102, of Little Rock, passed away October 11, 2011. She was born in Little Rock to Maynard N. and Rosa Langhammer Hanson and was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church.
Pauline was the eighth of twelve children, all of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in St. Edward's Parish and attended Mt. St. Mary's before going to work at the Arkansas Democrat as a bookkeeper. Her faith and family were top priorities in her life. It was that faith that saw her through WWII when she was at home alone with five children while her husband, Buddy, served in the Army. Upon his return, they continued to raise their family and to own and operate Land Cafeteria at 2nd and Spring Streets for 30 years.
She was married to the love of her life, John W. (Buddy) Land, Jr. for 70 years before he died in 1998. They were blessed with eight children, three of whom also preceded her in death, Nick Land, Paula Kirchner and Joan Marie Land. She is survived by her sons, John W. Land (Sylvia) and Mike Land; her daughters, Patricia Kirchner (Joe), Mary Scott (Wayne) and Jan Porter; twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Arkansas Hospice for their tender, loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church by Father Erik Pohlmeier. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 7:00 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Memorials may be made to the Msgr. Allen Trust Fund or to one's favorite charity.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501)224-2200. Mrs. Land's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
