Paul Neal Woodard, a visionary businessman and beloved family man, passed away on April 23, 2024. Born on October 31, 1947, in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, Paul's life was a tapestry woven with admirable accomplishments and cherished memories.
Paul's entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the original founder of Shotgun Dan's Pizza in 1977, leaving a flavorful legacy in the community. His dedication to excellence and providing a high quality product showed through his work. Alongside his professional endeavors, Paul graduated from Louisiana Tech with a bachelor's degree in business administration, a testament to his commitment to knowledge and growth.
A distinguished veteran, Paul served his country with honor for 28 years as a Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force. His service as a navigator in KC135 and C130 planes, including deployments in Vietnam and Thailand, demonstrated his courage and selflessness.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Paul was known for his outgoing personality, confidence, and leadership skills. He interacted with others effortlessly, always maintaining a direct yet personable demeanor. His quick wit and good sense of humor brightened countless lives around him.
In his leisure time, Paul found peace in deer hunting and enjoyed the thrill of horse races at Oaklawn alongside family and friends. His love for projects and farm work reflected his industrious nature and dedication to hands-on pursuits.
Paul's proudest achievements included the success of his business ventures and the completion of his college degree. These milestones symbolized his unwavering determination and quest for excellence throughout his life.
Paul will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Felts Woodard; children: Eric Woodard (Kristen), Robin Gee (Chuck), Josh Woodard (Jill); grandchildren: Zach Gee, Tyler Gee, Everett Woodard, Walker Woodard, Wyatt Woodard, Joliett Woodard, Emery Alex Woodard, Jonas Woodard, Amoni Woodard; brothers: Homer Woodard (Norma), Jerry Woodard; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a memorial service starting at 10:30 AM. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 12:00 PM at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
